Whether you’re planning a visit to Graycliff or other Frank Lloyd Wright sites throughout the country, consider these tips as you start your journey!
Graycliff is located in Derby, New York, a village within the town of Evans, just southwest of Lakeview and Hamburg, and just two minutes from Lake Shore Road (NY 5), the best route from Buffalo via the Skyway.
Our address is 6472 Old Lake Shore Road, Derby, NY, 14047.
Photos can be taken for personal use only on-site within the guidelines outlined by your tour docent.
Graycliff does offer a student discount for K-12 and college students (with proper ID). Tours are offered free to members of Graycliff, and members also receive a discount in the gift shop.
Most Graycliff tours are suitable for ages 5 and up!
Infants are permitted on most Graycliff tours as well, provided that they are carried at all times and well behaved. If disruption of guests arises, you may be asked to leave the tour. Strollers are not permitted in interior locations, however, and the infant must be carried.
For select special events, such as The Market at Graycliff and Family Fun Day, we encourage visitors of all ages to enjoy the property!
Strollers are allowed on the grounds, but not in the historic houses due to space constrictions and the safety of the restored areas.
Graycliff tours begin at the Visitor Center located adjacent to the parking area. Guests are asked to check in at the Visitor Center upon arrival and join their docent-led group for the tour.
Yes. Advance reservations and payment are highly recommended for all Graycliff tours. Walk-in visitors may register and pay on-site provided that the tour is not sold out. Tours often sell out during our busy summer months of June through September, as well as holiday weekends.
Graycliff tours cover all two and a half acres of the home grounds, so there is considerable walking, including ascending a flight of stairs for access to the second floor of the houses. Cane stools are available in the visitor center for guest use on tours.
A parking area is located just outside the Visitor Center with two designated handicap parking spots.
Self-guided tours of Graycliff are not currently available regularly. Guided tours of Graycliff are available on a regular, seasonally based schedule. Advanced reservations are highly recommended.
As a historic house, Graycliff is not currently accessible due to a variety of reasons, including stairs, unpaved and uneven areas, lighting limitations, and other concerns. Our pavilion is accessible at this time.
Our golf cart may be requested for those who may need mobility assistance. To reserve the golf cart for a tour, please call (716) 947-9217. Please Note: The golf cart is weather dependent, and is not available if it is raining, or has recently rained, or during the off-season of November through March.
Graycliff does not furnish wheelchairs but does offer mobility assistance with the golf cart, on a first come first serve reservation. Further, guests are welcome to use wheelchairs, walkers, canes, and the like, provided that they have rubber wheels or tips.
There is no food service available on-site, but we do have ice cream and snacks available seasonally. We also encourage guests to picnic at our Visitor Center outdoor tables as weather permits, and local restaurants are available within a five-minute drive.
The Pavilion Shop at Graycliff is located within the Visitor Center and is open on days the site is open from 10 AM to 4 PM. Visitors do not need to take a tour to buy items in the shop.
Many visitors enjoy browsing the gift shop and archival photos and panels for a few minutes prior to the tour, so please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes in advance.
Graycliff currently offers discounted pricing for student groups in Grades K to 12 and college. Please contact Ryan Gravell, director of operations, by email at rgravell@graycliffestate.org, or by calling (716) 947-9217.
